Human Resources
The HR function in a FMCG business is the place where operational and strategic Human Resources objectives are balanced. There tends to be a strong focus on talent management and professional development in many of the top FMCG companies. The primary aim is to ensure a long term global pipeline of high caliber people around the world. Finding the right people is no easy task though, so graduate recruitment is a high priority for HR in most markets. You'll also find that Human Resources takes responsibility for growing careers once people are onboard.
In many ways, if you join the HR team in an FMCG business, you'll become one of the drivers of your company's culture and working environment. You'll also represent the interests of the people in that company - making sure everyone enjoys fair treatment at every level of the business.
Example role: Junior Assistant
The Human Resources team in any business plays a key role. And in the high speed FMCG world, that's even truer. From recruitment to management training. Employee relations to employment law. It's the Human Resources department that keeps it all running smoothly.
Joining an HR team in one of the big FMCG businesses will give you the chance to get involved in a huge range of projects. You'll build an expert knowledge in recruitment processes, training and development, employment law and salary benchmarking. More than this, you'll learn how to develop effective working relationships across the whole organization and to liaise confidently with people at the highest levels too.
So, if you're passionate about people and have the kind of results orientated approach that the FMCG environment calls for, FMCG HR could be the perfect place for you. And if you have the ability to learn quickly and a very proactive attitude as well, then you could be looking at a very successful HR Management career in the not too distant future.
